Wed, 2nd June, 2010 - Day 5

We left the Broken Hill Caravan Park at 8.45am heading to our destination for the day, Port Augusta. Our first stop was at the Olary Rest Area for morning tea. This was for 'old time sake' as Rex & I had stay there overnight on our way home from Darwin in 2003, hence we took a few photos this time.

I then drove from Olary to our lunch stop at a rest area on t
he outskirts of Peterborough. Rex then took over the driving and we headed off to Port August, passing through the beautiful Horrocks Pas
s, which is very hilly and winding, quite different to the landscape we had become accustomed too. Then it was back to the flat again.

We arrived at the Port Augusta Big 4 Caravan Park at 3.30pm where we are staying for just tonight.

After we set up Mick went into town to try and sort out the fuel gauge on his vehicle as it is not working correctly. Rex, Maureen and I went to stock up on the groceries as items will probably be limited now until we arrive in Alice Springs. Also the same with the wine for 'Happy Hour' - yes I hear you Toni & Danielle saying 'what a way to go Mum'!!!!! Maureen must be a bad influence on me!!!!!
We are now tucked up in our caravans for the night and preparing for an early start in the morning. At this stage we are planning on reaching Coober Pedy tomorrow.

  1. I totally love this blog page - feels like I am on holidays with you all!!!

Grandee, great to read an entry by you and yes, way to go with the wine. Hopefully by the time you get home Mrs Muller will have turned your into a wino!! I would hate to hear that you have no stock between Port Augusta and Alice Springs!!! Maybe you should have kept my case!!

Justin and William have headed into Dubbo today for Justin's physio appointment, so Poppy Ken and I are left here to do some work. Poor Pop is tackling Justin's work shed (yuck!!!) and I am about to go out onto the feedlot to clean the water troughs - lucky me!!!

Best stop whinging and get on with it, as we then have lambs to weigh once Justo and Will are home.

    Travel safe.
    Lots of love and kisses.
