Mon, 21st June, - Day 24

Once again we were on the road around 8.15am heading to the Daly Waters Historic Pub. As this campground does not take bookings we travelled straight through – yes, I hear you saying “no morning tea stop”!!!!!!

The Daly Waters Pub is approx 5klms off the Stuart Hwy. We arrived at approx 11.30am where we promptly went into the pub, booked in for 1 night in the campground and also booked a BBQ dinner for the 6.30pm sitting. When we arrived there were probably 6 caravans, by evening time the campground was absolutely packed. They now have an overflow area across the road and that was also filling up fast. This pub has to be seen to be believed.

We met a lot of people there and had dinner with Marilyn & George, who were parked in front of us.

Happy Hour commenced at 4.30pm so of course off we went. During Happy Hour when you make your purchase of drinks and/or chips the bar attendant tosses a coin to ascertain who pays for them. If the customer wins the toss then the drinks are fee, if not the customer pays for them. Rex lost on his first purchase of drinks and of course had to pay, however when he returned for another round he won and they were free.

The entertainment commenced at 5.00pm with a singer doing 60’s, 70’s & 80’s rock songs. Then at 7.30 Frank, the main entertainer came on. He was a great singer and involved the audience. He also had a ‘pet’ Roster with him and involves the Roster in his act by sitting him on top of his hat on his head. This all fits in very well with the style of this pub.

The evening came to an end, for us, at 9.00pm when we headed back to our caravan for the night.
