Departing Daly Waters at 10am, we were one of the last to leave as it was only a relatively short trip to Katherine. Before leaving, other caravanners’ were beginning to arrive & set up. It’s amazing the number of people you talk to who know people in Mudgee. One of the fellows who pulled in along side us was somehow related to Alan Birchall.
The trip to Katherine was un-eventful & we reached the Low Level Caravan Park at about 1.30 pm. This is a beautiful park & after setting up we didn’t do too much for the rest of the afternoon. Grandee prepared a nice salad which we ate under the awning. The temperature here was about 28C. It would be nice if the temperature didn’t rise much above this, however of course this will not be the case. It is nice to be getting out of our winter clothing & into shorts.
There is also an entertainer here at the caravan park, outdoors of course. His name is Geoff Evans, and plays wonderful dance music and has a lovely voice. There is also a makeshift dance floor(Lindy and Neil eat your hearts out!!!) When another couple got up on the dance floor Rex & I join them. They are from Forbes, NSW and also enjoy New Vogue & Old Time Dancing, so of course Geoff played whatever we requested.
Geoff finishes playing at 9.00pm so after that we stayed and chatted to Jane & Peter and Jan & Colin, who are also from Forbes. The two couples are travelling together and doing the same trip as us.
We retired to our respective caravans at 10.00pm.
