Mon, 7th June, 2010 - Day 10

Once again we were on the road by8.45am heading to Uluru (Ayers Rock) which is 299Klms from Erldunda. We stopped along the way at Curtin Springs for our morning tea and a quick break. It was great to have a short driving day, hence arriving at Yulara Resort Campground at 12.30pm.

After setting up our camp sites (which are not together, however not tooooo far from each other) Maureen & I went to the local supermarket (very expensive) for a few supplies. After lunch we headed out to ‘The Rock’.

Once at The Rock we visited the Cultural Centre then we went to the

viewing area to view the evening sunset. Unfortunately cloud cover came over and changed the view. We then turned to view the cloud cover and it was amazing at sunset. Rex has attached some photos.

Also attached is a photo of our camp site here at the Yulara Resort Campground, which we call 'Snob Hill'. There are three sites up here, however we are the only ones in this area. From here we can look right down along the street where Maureen & Mick are.

We have really enjoyed today, it is hard to believe that we are really here.

  1. Hi guys

Great blogs. I almost feel like I'm there with you on the roadside ... having a cuppa and a country cheese or some fowl (a la Ma & Pa Milton)!

Love the photos of the rock, especially the change in colour as the day progresses. Just brilliant.

Glad to hear you're feeling better U Rex. Lucky you're wonderful wife is there to keep you safe and well!

We're all fine down here. Mum's off playing Bridge wih Geoff at the moment and Erin's back at work this week so Ben and I are staying in Kings Langley for a few days.

Keep up the great blogging A Deebie.

    Love the Gallos xxx
