Thurs 19th Aug 2010 - Day 83 - Geraldton

After a rather early start and our morning tea and lunch packed we were on the road heading to Mullewa by 9.45am. Mullewa is about an hour's drive from Geraldton.

Our first stop, once at Mullewa, was the Info Centre. After this we consumed our morning tea, then did the Monsignor John Hawes Heritage Trail, which once again was very interesting and time consuming. This man lead such a full and fulfilling life - I really don't know how he did all he did in one lifetime. He has departed this life leaving such a legacy behind him for everyone to enjoy.

The walk finished at the Mullewa Catholic Church, Priesthome (as Mons. Hawes called it) and the Catholic School. All of course were designed & built by him, while he fulfilled his duties as Parish Priest of Mullewa.

Then it was off to have lunch. While having lunch two fellow travellers came along and of course starting talking to us. As they were from a small town just out of Perth they were very helpful with giving us information on where to stay when we reach Perth. With lunch finished it was time to do the wildflower walk, which took us an hour.

Once back at the Patrol we headed back to Geraldton collecting Fish and Chips to take back to the caravan for our dinner.
