Fri 20th Aug 2010 - Day 84 - Geraldton

Our first stop today was at the Old Railway Station to complete our duty for the Country - yes 'the voting' job. With that out of the way we then went to the HMAS Sydney 11 War Memorial. This is a wonderful tribute to the 645 men who lost their lives in November 1941 somewhere off the coast of Geraldton.

Then we went out to the light Industrial area and visited Bunnings and BCF. At BCF we purchased some rubber outdoor matting for under the caravan awning. Stopped at Woollworths for a few supplies and collected lunch from Subway. Back to the van for lunch

After lunch we then ventured down to the Point Moore Lighthouse. It is the only steel structure of its kind in Western Australia. Largest in Australia, it is 34meters high and it's light can be seen 26 kms out to sea.

It was imported from England in sections and assembled on site in 1878. Unfortunately this Lighthouse is not open to the public, although a plaque with more detailed info is located on the site.

We then went for a drive down to the Fishermen's Wharf where Rex was keen to take some photos.

Another day completed.

  1. Hi guys,

Thanks for your donation - it will all go to a great cause - we are all trying to help Sarah reach the highest amount. I am having a charity night here on Thursday.

Congratulation great Aunt Denise & great uncle Rex, we went in to see Karen & Hammish yesterday. All seem to be well, Therese came down Sat, so we saw her too for a little while.

You guys are certainly fitting heaps into your days. Sounds like you are having a great time - what has happened to the happy hours?

We are off to the footy now - go Parra. Cheers, thanks again, Janice
