Mon 26th July, 2010 - Day 59 - Broome

At 12.30pm Kaye & Tony picked us up & we travelled to the twelve mile. We had read about 'The Mango Place' in a brochure & we were keen to see what it was like. It was 20km along the Derby Rd & off 1km. It turned out to be a mango farm which had an outlet for mango products as well as mango smoothies, pies & pizzas etc. After a stroll around the grounds checking the different trees, we selected a shady table & chairs for lunch. Kay & Tony had pizza; Grandee & I had a chunky meat & wine pie which we topped with a mango sauce. This was washed down with a delicious mango smoothie. Kaye & Tony couldn't eat all their pizza so I ended up eating some of it for them. It was very tasty. The pizzas were baked in an outside pizza oven. The outlet was manned by backpackers who were quite friendly. Grandee purchased a small jar of mango jam.
After lunch Kay & Tony returned us to our van where we spent the afternoon reading etc, before driving to Roebuck Bay for the 'Stairway To The Moon' phenomenon which occurs at certain times of the month. On moonrise just after sunset the reflection on the water resembles a staircase leading to the moon. I'm afraid my photo of it wasn't great, however you can see what I have explained. We watched this event on the grassy foreshore near Kaye & Tony's van whilst eating nibbles & devouring wine.
