Sat, 19th June, 2010 - Day 22 - Week 4

Sadly it was time to leave our home at Alice Springs after being there for a week – and as you all know what a great week it was, especially the first half with the surprise visit from the Doyle family.

We departed the MacDonnell Ranges Caravan Park at 9.15am heading for the Devils Marbles which is a distance of approx 400klms. Once again we stopped for morning tea at 10.30am then continued on until we reached Wycliffe Well (the home of the UFO) where we refuelled. Then it was onto Karlu Karlu / Devils Marbles, which is only 27klms from Wycliffe Well, arriving at the campground at 3.00pm. There were already a lot of vans set up and by about 4.00pm the ground was full.

After setting up and eating a late lunch we went for a walk up around the marbles. Scattered across a wide and shallow valley, these massive boulders of granite are an impressive site. The boulders are precariously balanced on top of one another in a seemingly impossible arrangement. We are looking forward to the sunrise on the marbles in the morning.

We are now tucked up in our van for the night, with limited power, as it is very chilly and windy outside.
