Our first stop after leaving windswept Denham was Billabong Roadhouse, which was approximately half way to our next stopover, Kalbarri. After refuelling we continued into a headwind, with Grandee at the controls while I caught up on a bit of 'shut eye'. After driving for about 100kms, I again got behind the wheel for the rest of the trip.
We arrived at The Murchison Caravan Park at about 1.30pm. After checking in we continued to our intended site, only to find a caravan still in residence. We reported this back at reception were told to stay where we were parked, ( beside the amenity block) until the owner of the van returned. Check out was 10am & he was already 3.5 hours over.
We turned the fridge over to gas & got the TV going. We then walked a short distance to a Fish & Chip shop where we purchased the obvious.
After eating our meal we sat around until about 3pm. We then went back to reception, as the owner of the offending van had still not appeared. After a phone discussion with the Park manager, the receptionist told us to shift our van to the emergency site, which was between the park residence & another building. This turned out to be a nice grassed area facing the main road, with water views. The only problem was security, we would have to pack away our table & chairs each night. We were also segregated from the rest of the park so we would not meet other caravanners as easily.
I wasn't very happy about this situation. I had asked why the owner of the van hadn't been phoned. The reply was, they didn't have a phone number. This was one of the only parks that didn't ask for a contact phone number.
My turn to make you jealous - last Monday I had the day at Wamberal - Terrigal with Colleen, Dave, Geoff & Jocelyn - in C & D new house (they are renting it out now) 3 levels all with views of the Pacific Ocean. Today Malcolm & I are going up to Terrigal for two nights - the weather was perfect on Monday and today and should be tomorrow!!!
ReplyDeleteWe ended up going to Mudgee for Rita's funeral - it rained from the time we left until the time we arrived home - the same night. But I am pleased we went. It was the right thing to do.
Best go & pack - keep up the adventures and the fish & chips and whatever else you can get your hands on.
Cheers Jan
